About Me
I was born in Joplin, Missouri on January 14th, 1974. I grew up in nearby Miami (pronunced My-am-uh), Oklahoma,
and for a few years in Baxter Springs, Kansas. I learned to read at four and forever after I read anything I
could get my hands on. I started learning the piano at eleven years old. Later, I pursued a career as a music
therapist, but later music performance with piano emphasis at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where I
met my husband of over two decades, Aaron. At SWOSU I also met and became friends with the girl who would later
become my editor, Jaime Kovar.
After graduation, I worked as an accompanist at several churches in the Drumright, Oklahoma area while raising
three wonderful boys. My husband was the band director at Drumright. I made lifelong friends with many of his
student, one of which is my official illustrator, Sydni Levis Nasada.
After a decade in Drumright, we needed to find a different location for our children with special needs, so we
moved closer to my home town. We now live in Joplin, Missouri, where I still accompany various solo singers and
choir in the area on the piano. But most of my time now is spent writing.
